Vague Possibilities

2011

For the exhibition Vague Possibilities I created a piece, Untitled Wax Experiment II, that was part performance, part sculptural installation.

Untitled Wax Experiment II traced the process of creating a (to scale) cast wax coffin and subsequent presentation at the end of this process. Working outside of gallery hours, the physical performance was suggested through the traces of movement within the space and the changing development of the sculptural object. Once complete, the piece was presented next to the workstation as a whole sculptural installation. With a focus on the rhetoric of the contemporary horror film, a reductive process was implemented to explore the possibilities of ‘real life’ connections between the filmic world and my own.
